The short version: we collect almost nothing, we don't sell anything to anyone, and we tell you exactly what we have.

What we collect

  • Email address only if you subscribe to the newsletter. Used to send you the newsletter and nothing else.
  • Basic analytics anonymous traffic numbers (page views, country, device type) via a privacy-respecting analytics service. No tracking cookies that follow you around the web.
  • Ad-network data if you see display ads on the site (via Google AdSense or a similar network), the ad provider may set cookies and collect anonymous data per their own privacy policies. We don’t see this data directly. You can manage ad personalization via your browser settings or the ad provider's opt-out page.

What we don't collect

  • No personal identifying info beyond your newsletter email
  • No tracking pixels or cross-site advertising IDs
  • No selling or sharing of your data with third parties
  • No location tracking beyond what your browser already does for the map

Advertising networks

The site shows display advertising (currently via Google AdSense or a similar provider). These networks use their own cookies and tracking technology to serve ads and measure performance. We don’t share any personal data with them, they use only their own anonymous signals. You can opt out of personalized ads via the network’s settings or your browser's privacy controls.

Newsletter

The newsletter is hosted by a third-party email service (ConvertKit, Mailchimp, or similar). When you subscribe, your email is stored by them on our behalf. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. We never share or sell newsletter emails.

Display ads

If we run display ads (via Google AdSense, Mediavine, or similar), those services use cookies to serve relevant ads and measure performance. You can manage these via your browser's cookie settings or your ad-network preferences.

Map tile services

Our interactive maps load tiles from OpenStreetMap and CARTO. These services may log tile requests anonymously per their own privacy policies.

Cookies

The site uses minimal cookies, only what's needed to make things work plus any set by ad partners (if/when display ads are running). No first-party tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can request your data, ask for it to be deleted, or unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Email hello@mollysmaps.com and we'll take care of it within 7 days. Under GDPR (if you're in the EU) and CCPA (California), you have specific rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you.

Children

Molly's Maps isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

We'll update this policy if anything material changes. The "last updated" date at the top reflects any changes.
